David Alcaide announced himself as one of the game's most enduring competitors when, at 46, he became the inaugural Philippines Open champion — a triumph that arrived the same year he collected a sixth Mosconi Cup winner's medal with Team Europe. Known to fans as "El Matador", the Spaniard has built a career defined by longevity as much as silverware.

Alcaide's résumé also includes the 2023 European Open title and two World Pool Masters crowns, in 2017 and 2019. He broke new ground in 2006 as the first Spanish player selected for the Mosconi Cup, going on to help Team Europe lift the trophy in 2017, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
