Shane Van Boening, the "South Dakota Kid", is one of the most decorated Americans in the sport's history, with five US Open titles and a 2022 World Pool Championship crown to his name. In 2026 he added the Florida Open Pool Championship, defeating Alexander Kazakis 13-5 in the final for a title he had fallen just short of two years earlier.
Van Boening also reached the 2024 US Open final before finishing runner-up to Fedor Gorst, and captured the 2024 Premier League Pool title. His body of work over the 2010s earned him Billiards Digest's "Player of the Decade" honor.
